Phrasal verbs: change and innovation
Worksheet overview
With this ESL worksheet, students will learn and practise 12 phrasal verbs used when talking about change and innovation. It is useful both for general and business English students
In the first activity, which introduces 6 phrasal verbs (e.g. shake up, turn things around, take up the challenge), students read a short text and match the phrasal verbs to their definitions. To practise, they replace part of 4 statements given with the correct phrasal verbs and then discuss the statements.
Next, students look at 4 short dialogues which introduce the rest of the phrasal verbs (e.g. bring about, take the idea forward, figure out). After matching the verbs to their definitions. students complete 3 sentences with their own ideas.
For some additional practice, students are given 5 multiple-choice sentences.
The last 2 activities are focused on speaking: first students discuss 3 statements and then they answer a couple of questions given. The set of printable conversation questions provides further opportunities to speak about the topic, revise the target vocabulary or replace an activity from the worksheet. This worksheet will work great in combination with lessons about innovation, change, creativity.
