Phrasal verbs: business expansion
Worksheet overview
This Business English worksheet is dedicated to phrasal verbs relevant when talking about business expansion and development. Students will learn and practise 12 phrasal verbs.
The first 9 phrasal verbs (e.g. scale up, branch out, tap into, get ahead, break into) are introduced through a short dialogue between 2 colleagues. To practise, students complete a multiple-choice activity.
Next, students discuss different types of business expansion (e.g. mergers and acquisitions, market expansion, partnerships, franchising), and complete a text with phrasal verbs from the previous activity. This text also contains the rest of the phrasal verbs (e.g. pull out, take over, turn down). Next, students discuss 5 conversation questions given.
To practise all phrasal verbs, students paraphrase 6 sentences, using a phrasal verb from this lesson.
Finally, students are given talking points and are asked to give examples of different companies.
For more speaking practice, and to review these phrasal verbs related to business expansion and development, you can use the conversation cards.
