The World Ahead 2026

 Activities Overview:

1. Lead-in Discussion: Students brainstorm important 2025 events across categories including politics, technology, climate, and culture, preparing them for reading and listening activities.

2. Reading and Speaking: Learners read summaries of key 2025 events and answer questions about headlines, global impact, and personal relevance, promoting critical discussion.

3. Cover Analysis Speaking Activity: Students examine The Economist cover for 2026, identifying key visual elements, themes, and global issues, then discuss potential implications and predictions.

4. Vocabulary Practice: Students match new vocabulary words with definitions, complete sentences using these words, and create their own sentences connecting vocabulary to 2026 trends. Vocabulary includes terms such as “global landscape,” “to ripple across,” “brain drain,” “stock bubble,” “backlash,” and “power struggle.”

5. Listening Activities: Students watch a video called “The World Ahead 2026: Key Insights Simplified, Complexities Decoded”, divided into 4 parts.

   • Listening A: Students watch the first part of a video summarizing the three superpowers (United States, China, Russia) and analyze potential outcomes and global ripple effects.

   • Listening B: Learners focus on AI’s role in the economy and society, exploring both positive and negative scenarios.

   • Listening C: Students watch the final section of the video and summarize projected trends for climate, economy, space, health, and culture, discussing potential impacts on daily life.
