Here we go. In a large pot, combine 8 cups of your favorite apple cider, 1 1⁄2 cups orange juice, preferably with no pulp, 1⁄3 cup lemon juice, 2 1⁄2 thumb-sized pieces of ginger, 2 cinnamon sticks, 2 star anise, and 1 apple slice.
After the wassail is sufficiently heated through, you can transfer it to a slow cooker to keep warm. Or you can do the whole process in your slow cooker.
This hot wassail recipe makes 6 to 8 cups of wassail and costs us just under $5 if we buy our apple cider from our wholesale store and just over $6 if we buy our cider from our local grocery store.
