Phrasal verbs: happiness and well-being
Worksheet overview
This ESL worksheet is dedicated to phrasal verbs used when discussing happiness and well-being. Students will learn and practise 12 phrasal verbs, and will discuss various questions related to happiness.
The first 6 phrasal verbs (e.g. shake off, lighten up, let go, cheer up) are introduced through a short text about happiness. To practise, students do a short role-play, where they need to use some of the verbs. The rest of the phrasal verbs (crack up, wind down, perk up) are introduced through 6 short dialogues, each containing a different phrasal verb.
Next, students complete a multiple-choice exercise.
The last 2 activities are focused on speaking: First, students complete 6 questions with the correct phrasal verbs and use the questions to start a conversation with a partner. Lastly, they brainstorm different strategies to improve happiness and well-being.
The conversation cards provide additional speaking opportunities.
