Phrasal verbs: Anger

Worksheet overview

This ESL worksheet focuses on phrasal verbs related to anger. Students will learn 12 phrasal verbs, discuss anger triggers, and explore anger management techniques.

The first 7 phrasal verbs related to anger (e.g., flip out, snap at, smash up, piss off, take it out on) are introduced through a dialogue about a couple arguing. Students match the verbs to their definitions, complete sentences using the correct verbs, and discuss six conversation questions.

The remaining anger phrasal verbs ( e.g. lash out at, storm out, bottle up, fume about) are introduced by matching sentences with similar meanings. Students then fill in anger management tips using the correct verbs and discuss the effectiveness of various techniques.

Next, students discuss situations that commonly provoke anger and share their reactions. They explore healthy responses to six hypothetical scenarios and reflect on their worst arguments to wrap up the lesson.
